Lubbecke - a great weekend at Church House.

Lubbecke - a great weekend at Church House.

Over the weekend 8-10 May, almost seventy individuals from BFG travelled to Lübbecke to attend the first of two SASRA Conferences this year. The guest speaker from Cardiff, The Revd Carl Gidney led the weekend. Carl had recently returned from speaking tours of Sri Lanka and India. He is founder of Terranova Communities, and affectionately known as “The Missional Monk”. Lancashire-born of Anglo-Indian descent with a missionary heart, Carl is a gifted musician, artist and singer with over 30 years’ service as church minister.

Terranova is Carl’s church-planting ministry in Cardiff. Its aim is to serve as a catalyst to church planting, evangelism and discipleship. His desire is to encourage and motivate existing churches and leaders interested in exploring more counterintuitive ways of “being and doing church”.

We want to motivate others to live like missionaries in their own churches and cultural context.”

Carl led a challenging programme of prayer and teamwork building to pass on his methods of discipleship in our modern world.

SASRA Reader Ray Hendricks organized the weekend with Donna his wife running a children’s programme. As ever, Church House and the staff provided wonderful hospitality. The weekend also gave an opportunity to thank SASRA Reader William Wade and his wife Tulsi for the last 13 years which they had dedicated to God’s work with the forces in BFG.

William and family move back to the UK in July to take up an appointment in Colchester Garrison.
